ENCORE - Engaging Co-Design Research
(Toistaiseksi tutkimusryhmien kuvaukset on saatavilla vain englanninkielisinä)
Design research community has developed a variety of tools for staging encounters with users to inform and inspire design. Currently more effort is invested in collaborative design and facilitating human-centredness as a strategy.
Within this setting the ENCORE (engaging co-design research) team members share the passion for creative collaborative design. The point of departure for the research on what we call co-design, is somewhere in between user-centred design, design for experiences and empathic design, and their experimentation in varying contexts.
The application areas vary from housing renovation industry and organizational change to service systems and co-construction in local cultural contexts. The research concerns among others methodological questions, design experiments' roles in larger programmes and the impacts of our work to understand the value of co-design
The ENCORE team explores constantly application fields for co-design through hands-on exploration and ambitious research. The visionary competence stems mostly from industrial design spiced with engineering, architecture and anthropology.
The team's toolkit includes approaches such as design probes, design games, situated make tools, performative toolkit, developed and tested in collaboration between users, businesses and public sector. The team collaborates vividly within Aalto University and international partners.
